American Pharmacist Month
10/17/07 08:17
Hello Pre-Scripters,
I just found out that there is another volunteer opportunity coming
this Saturday (10/20). Since it is American Pharmacist Month the
members of APhA-ASP are going to distribute information around town to
show the community and pharmacies what APhA-ASP can do for them. All
members of Pre-SCRIPTS are welcome to help out. The group will meet
out front of the College of Pharmacy at 11:00 am and will go from
there. If you are interested or have any questions about the event,
please contact Kim Neff (APhA-ASP President).
Thanks,
Troy Russell

This weekend APHA and the college of pharmacy is having a one day, one
hour "pharmacy blitz." We are going to split up and visit as many
pharmacies in the Albuquerque area. Ultimately we will supply them,
along with the patients in those pharmacies with educational
information(heartburn awareness, diabetes info, vials of life, etc.)
It is really important that we get a large turn out so we can impact
and supply those pharmacies and patients with this information.
Remember that many of these disease states can be eliminated and
greatly impact the quality of life of many people.
We will be meeting this Saturday(10-20) at 11:00 am in front of the
college of pharmacy building to split up into groups and make a
difference! It will only last 1 hour, thus 11:00-12:00...we all have 1
hour to give to a greater cause than sleeping in.

Dear Pre-Scripters,
I'm sure you have all heard the tragic news by now of the two UNM students who were in a fatal car accident last Thursday. Rachael McCoy was one of them. I met her during sorority rush. She was incredibly enthusiastic and always exuding a bright energy. Even though rush was going on before fall classes had started, she already knew she wanted to pursue pharmacy. I gave her any advice I could, and she immediately joined Pre-Script. I would receive emails from her regularly asking when the next meeting or event was. She was extremely eager to participate and help in anyway. She had so much potential and there is no doubt in my mind that she was a great member, friend, and would have made an unforgettable pharmacist. This has been a big loss for Pre-Script; a member who is so charismatic is always a gift in an organization like ours.
I've bought a card for her family, I'll have it at our next meeting on October 24th. Please feel free to sign it and write any message you'd like to convey to her family. I'll be mailing it to her family in Farmington. The funeral services are being held in Farmington this Friday. Email me if you have any questions.
