Hi everyone,
Would you like to get more information about career opportunities in health care professions like medicine, nursing, pharmacy, optometry and dentistry? On November 6th Kaplan Test Prep & Admissions, UNM’s BA/MD Program, and UNM’s College of Pharmacy would like to invite you to attend the Annual Pre-Health Career Clinic at UNM in SUB Ballroom A at 6:30pm.
The Pre-Health Clinic is a free public service career forum being hosted by the Albuquerque Kaplan Center for prospective medical, pharmacy, dental, optometry and nursing school students. The objective of this event is to provide students interested in healthcare careers with an insider's look at how to get into these competitive programs. At the same time, the clinic is designed to promote healthcare professions and encourage students to consider careers in medical fields.
The panel will be composed of admissions experts, current students, and prominent health care leaders who will share their practical admissions advice and real-world experiences. Our panelists will each give a brief presentation highlighting their individual experiences and career paths. We will then open the panel up to questions from the audience. This is a great opportunity for you to get answers about your career options!
Panelists will include:
- Megan Thompson, PharmD, Director of Student Services, Pharmacy Admissions Committee Member, and Assistant Professor at the UNM College of Pharmacy
- Dr. James Strohschein DDA, Pre-dental advisor and practicing dentist
- Mellisa Valdez, UNM Medical School Student
- Kim Neff, 2009 PharmD Candidate, APhA-ASP President
- Tony Salazar, UNM Medical School Student and Student Representative for the Med School Admissions Committee
- Mayka Archuleta, Nursing student and President of the UNM Student Nurses Association
- Christina Haaland, Medical/Graduate student in the UNM MD/PhD program

If you know of any students who would be interested in attending, please share this information with them. I have also attached an informational flyer for this event. This will be a great chance for them to gain valuable insight into a variety of medical professions.
